Who We Are

The Rochester CERT is a group of citizen volunteers who train monthly to assist with large scale events and major disasters. All members have gone through a basic training course and cover topics including first aid, wide area searches, radio communications, victim extrication, HAZMAT, and disaster psychology. We strive to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people, and we accomplish this mission by being an extension of the police and fire departments.

What We Do

Every year the CERT assists with traffic and crowd control for large scale events such as the Big Bright Light Show, Arts and Apples, and similar events held within the City of Rochester. During these events, CERT members also provide a basic first aid station, search for lost children, and other event specific duties that arise which require trained personnel. CERT members have also participated in wide area searches for missing people. Occasionally we are called upon by neighboring jurisdictions when they have events that will require resources above and beyond what their police and fire departments can provide.
